Today we are lucky to have a luxury guest on the #TIMP blog: nutritionist Laura Jorge.
Better known in networks as @ljnutricion, she defines herself as “an intense, passionate and very involved person with my work, and with all the projects I develop. With the #comesanoyvivesano philosophy”.

Do you want to know what he told us?
Find out below!

Laura, how do you like to be defined?

The truth is that I haven’t thought about how I like it to be done, but I can tell you how I define myself in terms of my professional area.
I am Laura Jorge, Nutritionist and Director of the Laura Jorge Nutrition Center.
I am an intense, passionate and very involved person with my work, and with all the projects I develop.
Since I have my own Nutrition Center, I work with the philosophy #comesanoyvivesano, and it is the philosophy that I try to transmit to all the people who come to the Center, and to all the people who follow me on social networks and are encouraged to start their process of change.

What is Laura Jorge’s daily routine?

In the 5 years that my Center has, I have had different routines that I have been acquiring or adapting depending on my work.
Especially in the last 2 years, each week is different from the previous one, so I could say that in each week I have to design a different routine depending on whether I have to work for brands both in Valencia and out of town, if I have to see patients in the clinic, I have to go to the television to record… I have had to learn to be flexible with schedules.
What I never miss in my routine is getting up and taking my coffee easy.
I need that first coffee to get me going!

Why did you get into nutrition?

I decided to study nutrition because for a few years and after going on a weight loss diet I had a bad relationship with food and with myself.
This is what prompted me to study Human Nutrition and Dietetics, so I could help other people.

Is it difficult to get into the habit of eating healthy?
What are the first tips to get started?

Whether it is difficult or easy will depend on the person, their habits and their relationship with food.
That is why it is important to turn to Dietitians-Nutritionists to make this change of habits in a healthy way, and to have the necessary support.
Because of my work philosophy, I think that the first advice to start with should be personalized, since it is necessary to make a study of that person, and see where he/she is in order to set goals.
Even so, in general, I leave you some advice:
-Reduce or eliminate the consumption of sugar, soft drinks, pastries…
-Increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables.
I advise taking 5 servings a day.
-Get organized and it will be easier.
-Do not keep anything at home that you do not want to consume.
-Think about your healthy menu and based on that menu make your shopping list.
Better whole-grain products.
-Get moving!
One of the biggest problems we have is sedentary lifestyles.

Do you have a favorite recipe?
Would you like to share it with us?

No recipe as such…but, I’m crazy about chocolate!
You could say I have a sweet tooth.

What led you to set up your own nutrition clinic?

It was not in my plans when I finished my degree, but a bad experience in my first job as a nutritionist, led me to start thinking about becoming self-employed.
After a few years working as a freelancer in different centers, I decided to go my own way.
I never imagined the growth I have had in these 5 years.

How do you live the experience of managing a center and a team of eight people?

Well, as I mentioned in the previous question, I never imagined the growth of my brand and center in these 5 years.
It has been an experience that I still can not define with words because there are many good times, but I have also had hard times and a lot of stress.
Actually, I am very proud of everything I have achieved and of the great team I have.

Why did you decide to use a tool like TIMP to digitize your center?

I decided to count on TIMP because I needed help with management.
We have grown a lot and we needed more technology and better management, so TIMP was already necessary at the Laura Jorge Nutrition Center ;).

If you put yourself in the shoes of a patient, what factors would be decisive for you when choosing a nutritionist or nutrition clinic?

Without a doubt, in addition to helping me achieve my goal, they will provide me with nutritional education so that I can learn to eat healthy and not have a rebound effect.
To support and motivate me during my change process.
To give me advice, but to give me the freedom to go to the different consultations.
That they work with food and not with products.
Treatments should be personalized.
Do not judge me.
These are some of the deciding factors, among others, and this is just what we do at Laura Jorge’s Nutrition Center.

If we talk about health we cannot leave aside physical activity What sport do you currently practice?
Which one do you enjoy the most?

I currently practice functional training and pilates reformer.
I am also adapting the sport I practice to the other areas of my life and I have practiced running, crossfit, I have gone to the gym … But, without any doubt I stay with rhythmic gymnastics, is the sport of my childhood and adolescence, and although many years ago that I do not practice it, I still miss it.

What are your future challenges?

Right now I’m working on the new website, and on projects with important brands like Nike and Sprinter.
For next year I have new projects, but I can’t tell you about them yet ;).

If you could give only one piece of advice to the people who read you.
Which one would you give?
