At TIMP we like to know how our customers use the tools at their disposal in the control panel, as well as their opinion about them.
On this occasion we wanted to know first-hand what a manager thinks about the Rankings module, a utility designed to generate community among the center’s clients and encourage them to compete in a healthy way.
For this we asked Sergio William Tarantino, manager of Estudio Progreso, a personal training center in Mallorca that makes the most of the TIMP Rankings.
This is what Sergio told us.
Sergio, how long have you been using the ‘Rankings’ module?
We first used the Rankings module in January 2019.
Since then we have used it 11 times with month-long challenges, until this March 2020.
We have been doing a different challenge every month since November 2014 and since 2019 we have managed them with the Rankings.
How do you use it?
Do customers register their brands?
What kind of results do they report?
As I mentioned, we have always used “simple” challenges of one month’s duration.
We combine these simple challenges with different tests in which we alternate one month of cardio and one month of strength.
During the cardio months, the challenge can be to do 200 jumping jacks in the shortest time possible or to add up all the kilometers run.
In the strength months, the challenge can be to do as many push-ups and pull-ups in a row as you can.
All the clients write down their marks, but some are more animated when we are the ones who, through the computer, write down their results.
By using Rankings, are you motivating your clients to improve their brands?
What other advantages does it have for you?
I have a Personal Training studio with an average of 70 active clients throughout the year.
The truth is that those who make an effort in their weekly training are also the ones who are most motivated and use the Rankings.Other users may be motivated at some point, but if the challenge does not involve an effort on their part.
So that you understand me, the person who is a cyclist and has to add up kilometers by bike does it with pleasure that month and participates in the Rankings, but this same person the month he/she has to do push-ups, for example, does not participate at all.
As for the advantages, I would say that it gives me the opportunity to provide this extra service to my clients.
Do you think it fosters a sense of community among your customers?
Among those people who use it, yes.
Being a personal training center, people do not always coincide in the center, but when they do coincide, they have heard phrases of the type:
“You’re that Toni who beat me by 2 seconds in the jump rope.”
Do those who appear in the TOP of the Ranking receive any recognition?
Do you reward the winners?
There is always at least one or several winners depending on the challenge.
The prizes for the winners can be: T-shirts or sweatshirts of the center, sports supplements of your choice (shakes, bars…) and in some cases invitations to dinners that we organize.
