and we are very excited to share it with you so you can get to know this interesting initiative.<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s why we have invited one of its founders to come to Timp&#8217;s balcony, Ely Merino, who will tell us what it&#8217;s all about and how we can help in the cause. <\/p>\n<p>Ely was born in Terrassa, and has been dedicated to the world of sport for 21 years.<br \/>\nAfter claiming to be a lover of the sea, she decided to merge what she likes most, giving shape to a discipline of which she is a<strong> pioneer in the city of Barcelona, pilates sup &amp; beach.<br \/><\/strong><br \/> From her passion for the sea was born her willingness to take care of it by organizing beach cleanups.<br \/>\nThis is how she was appointed <strong>ambassador in Spain of the NGO Oceanic Global<\/strong>, with which she works for the care of our oceans through various cleaning actions both in Barcelona and Costa Rica.    <\/p>\n<figure class=\"attachment attachment--preview attachment--png\">\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3>How would you explain the philosophy of the Pachamama market?<\/h3>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Pachamama Market is the beginning of a movement of conscious actions and<strong> care for our oceans through cleanups, educational workshops and markets totally sustainable and proximity<\/strong>.<br \/>\nBehind Pachamama are<strong> Danae Fisher<\/strong> and myself as founders and the team of volunteers that help us to make all our actions possible.<br \/>\nOf course, we also count on Oceanic Global as an NGO giving us support.  <\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3>How did it come about and what are you fighting against?<\/h3>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It arose from seeing the need to join forces and people who love the sea to <strong>raise awareness and show the world the problems that humans are causing to Mother Nature <\/strong>with consumerism and lack of education and information in this regard.<br \/>\nPachamama market fights against pollution, against the big problems that damage our oceans and against everything that is not sustainable and respectful. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"attachment attachment--preview attachment--png\">\n<\/figure>\n<p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Who can participate in this initiative?<\/h3>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<strong>Everyone can participate in the cleanups<\/strong>, in fact the more people the better.<br \/>\nThis way we will be able to reach more people and generate as much awareness as possible.<br \/>\nAs far as <strong>the market is concerned, only sustainable brands with sustainability certificates<\/strong>, local and respectful with the planet <strong>can enter<\/strong>. <strong>You can participate even without being present<\/strong>, for the next edition we are preparing something very nice so that everyone can support us from home.<br \/>\nSoon I will be able to tell you more!   <\/p>\n<p>The goal of Pachamama is to create a very warrior and conscious tribe that grows to help, educate and take care of the oceans anywhere in the world.<br \/>\nTo carry out actions where to <strong>show how to consume in a sustainable way and to support all those brands that bet on this respectful lifestyle. <\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>Outside of Barcelona we have organized beach cleanups in Costa Rica, and we plan to do it in more places.<br \/>\nWe are just waiting for freedom of mobility. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"attachment attachment--preview attachment--png\">\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3>What do you take away from previous editions?<\/h3>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>So far we have only done one edition, which despite the restrictions had an attendance of 100 people.<br \/>\nAnd the conclusion is that <strong>more and more people want to join this movement and take care of our beaches. <\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p><strong>It has taught us that there are beautiful people and brands that believe in a change for the better.  <\/strong>It has taught us to be strong and positive that change is possible, the most important thing is to be united.  <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<figure class=\"attachment attachment--preview attachment--jpg\">\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3>What do we need to keep moving towards a sustainable future?<\/h3>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Right now <strong>we are at a very good point towards emerging brands that are sustainable<\/strong> and more generally aware, <strong>but at the same time we feel that we have taken a step backwards<\/strong> because of the pandemic, as plastic has come back more strongly for the <strong><em>take away. <\/em><\/strong>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We need a good education to clearly understand everything biodegradable and the damage that plastics do to the world. <strong>We need a real recycling system<\/strong>, and above all, we need to eliminate single-use plastic and overconsumption.
