International Oceans Day: what is its significance?<\/h2>\n
It is a reality that human beings<\/strong>, with their excessive industrial activity and international trade, consume more of the planet’s resources than they are able to replenish<\/strong>.
\nThis is having devastating effects on both terrestrial and marine ecosystems, and it is precisely on the latter that the international day in question wishes to draw our attention. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
One of the objectives of<\/strong> the United Nations<\/strong> is to improve the standard of living of human beings<\/strong>, and although it may not seem so at first glance, this quality of life depends to a large extent on environmental protection. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
For this reason, in 2008 this organization designated June 8 as International Oceans Day<\/strong> to raise awareness among the world’s population of the importance of preserving the planet’s oceans and seas<\/strong>, as well as the biodiversity they contain.
\nTo this end, it is essential to learn how to use their resources in a sustainable manner. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In order to get an idea of how important this ecosystem is in our daily lives, it is enough to know that the oceans produce at least 50% of the oxygen we breathe<\/strong>.
\nAnd yet we have destroyed 50% of the coral reefs and 90% of the Earth’s large fish populations.

Schools, institutions and associations around the world are launching different events with a common goal: to make more and more people aware of the impact that human activity has on the marine biosphere<\/strong> and how they can behave in a respectful way <\/strong>to create a real change for the better.<\/div>\n

Coastal cleanup<\/strong> events, photographic exhibitions on marine biological wealth<\/strong> or benefit concerts to support the recovery of the seabed<\/strong> are just some of the proposals that can be found on a day as important as this one.<\/div>\n

Surf schools with the oceans<\/h2>\n
At TIMP we serve several surf schools helping them with our management software <\/strong>to streamline their office tasks, so they can spend more time surfing the waves with their students, which is their main goal.<\/div>\n

This made it very easy for us, on a day like this, to know firsthand what the ocean means to them<\/strong> and how they care for it.<\/div>\n

Surf schools are training centers especially linked to the sea, so it is not surprising that they highly value its care and preservation as it is their livelihood.
